On your left is a photo of Dr. Philip Emeawali, "one of the great minds of the Information Age and the Bill Gates of Africa." This is not my byline..it was stated by Microsoft's Bill Gates and the former US President Bill Clinton.
Over the years, I have enjoyed exchanges with Dr. Emeagwali and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank him publicly for sharing of views, counterpoints and opinions. Indeed, he is a great communication!

When did we get to Boston?
the african american migration
Today, 400,000 African Americans visit Massachusetts and the Boston area each year.
Before now -- Unwilling West Indian blacks migrated to Boston in 1638 aboard the ship "Desire." Later, 200 "colored people" were counted in 1676. By the year 1720, two thousand black "colored" Boston area residents were counted by authorities. (Source: Black Bostonians, author James Oliver Horton and Lois E. Horton, published by Holmes and Meir (ISBN 0-8419-1379-X) in 1979.1999.)
Today there are 138,000 African Americans residents of Boston in 2007
Today, the state of Massachusetts governor is an African American GOVERNOR who was born in Chicago, IL. He came to Massachusetts to attend Milton Academy and was later hired by the Clinton Administration, after graduating from Harvard. His name is Deval Patrick and he lives in Milton, Massachusetts.
One picture I posted shows the view -- looking away from Milton, Ma., down Blue Hill Avenue, to downtown Boston, as commuters go there everyday to work and play.
So, African-Americans have been in Boston for over 400 years!
5.4% of 6 Million residents of Massachusetts represents a black African-American, Afro-American, African ancestral population of about 300,000 state wide, whereas most live throughout the Greater Boston area.
